The Vocabulary of Winners: Words That Winners Use

“Winners use words that say ‘must’ and ‘will'”.

Did you know that people who win big in life, like the Wolf of Wall Street himself, never utter certain words and always use other words, words that I call “winner’s words” or the “vocabulary of winners”?

The words you use externally (i.e. language used with others) and internally (i.e. self-talk) are a self-fulfilling prophecy.  If your self-talk or language used with others contain “loser words”, you will most likely end up (and be) a loser, and others will certainly view you as one.

The words you use also signal to other people what your mindsets are.  They signal whether you think of yourself as a winner, whether you are certain about the things you say (or not), whether you are self-confident, and how much you love yourself.

Some words that are constantly uttered by losers are: “can’t”, “impossible”, “luck”, “fair”, “would”, “could”, “should”, and others.

It makes me cringe when I hear people use these “loser words”. Who are they to think so lowly of themselves? Who are they to think of themselves as so powerless?  Why don’t they take ownership of their results in life?

YOU WILL NEVER FIND A TRUE WINNER USING SUCH WORDS.  DO YOU THINK THE WOLF OF WALL STREET EVER USED OR USES SUCH WORDS?! INSTEAD, WINNERS ARE CONSTANTLY USING OTHER WORDS IN THEIR VOCABULARY, WORDS THAT ARE MUCH MORE EMPOWERING AND POWERFUL.

If you want to come off as powerful, confident, and certain to others, and ultimately win big in life, you need to start incorporating “winner’s words” in your conversations with others and in your own self-talk.  As a self-fulfilling prophecy, using these words consistently and avoiding loser words will help propel you towards your goals and success in life.

So…what are these words that winners use then, i.e. the “vocabulary of winners”?!

Well, Jordan Belfort gave you two of them:  “I must” and “I will”.

Here is another example:  Instead of saying “I don’t know”, say “definitely”, “absolutely”, “sure”.
